DVD flickering when playback

  • I've tried to watch a few dvds and they are flickering when watching, i've replaced my drive but it still happens, i am connected by scart to my lcd tv and my friend installed xbmc for me.
    Could it be setting?

    It does start ok then it flickers really badly. Very weird.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated

  • Seems to be ok in dvdxregion for playback but not in xbmc.

  • Can confirm this problem as jz1276. Special content flickers badly, e.g. extra material on "Seinfeld", extra content in "Ray". Also, a home-made DVD suffers from the same problem. I have tried all many resolutions, 720p, NTSC, PAL50/60 ... These DVD:s looks much better in M$ player (I use the one in Avalaunch)

    I thought it has something to do with preprocessing, my projector Benq W500 has some fancy HQV-stuff built in, it is like two processors are working against each other..


    only think i have not tried was switching off progressive mode. Maybe itll look better in 480i


  • you are sure it isn't interlacing? flicker is kinda a odd word. check the interlace handling option from osd.


  • I have this problem too. Its only with special features and I havent noticed it with the main movie on DVDs or AVI files. I tried every option (de interlace, weave, bob, auto select, etc) and none of them work. I also have this problem with my DVD recorder (panasonic) and playing back recorded material. Can anyone explain to me why the movie itself on DVds plays fine while special features and some TVs shows dont?
